Sunset from our 19th room The reason I blog is to help fellow travellers... I learned there are two Ixtapa cities in Mexico. I googled Ixtapa after my friend Ev asked me if I could find someone to share a room with her in Ixtapa. She told me she just wants to relax for a week on the beach. When I first google mapped it I didn’t see a beach so I ended up looking on the Air Canada vacations website and it showed Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo and yes there was a beach. I asked around who wanted to share a room with a friend of mine and no one could get away so I called Ev when I saw prices dropping and said yes let’s go. So I booked it on Sell Off Vacations because they had (price drop protection) so if the price drops up to three days before you travel you get the best price, but I did not read the fine print (maximum $300.00) and it did drop the $300.00 but I did not apply for it as I was waiting for it to drop even more and what ended up happening is the resort ended up selling out and that means everything is off the table so I ended off without even the price drop. The problem with Mexico and most Countries is you have to have double occupancy. Another thing to watch out for is an all-inclusive and the European plan aren’t the same as the European plan means no meals or drinks and you’re on your own. The Resort was top notch it should be more than a 3 ½ star (SunScape Dorado Ixtapa). The service and the people working there were the best. One thing I really like is if you wanted to go to an A’ La carte restaurant I did not need a reservation. I just show up at any of the three they had set up or you could just eat at the buffet. I found it was about 90 percent couples 9 percent families and just a couple of us singles. I also found in the four small towns we visited that the locals were very friendly and helpful and I felt very safe there too. mountain restaurant, view of Ixtapa. I think we saved about 2/3rds by not taking the tours, we took local buses which are cheaper. We went Horseback riding in Temazcal,, snorkelling in Playa Linda and we found a gondola at the south end of the beach that had a mountain restaurant with an amazing view of Ixtapa. We spent a day in Zihuatanejo looking at real estate prices and the last three days was so relaxing in both Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo. We found that massages only cost between $15 to $20 for an hour and it’s well worth it. We saw whales and dolphins from our Resort as they came in just one day. Around Playa Linda the Dolphins are always around. My new summer ride I never like to make plans as I find they always change. The day before I was going to Mexico, I was shopping for a Harley motorcycle and came across a great deal on a Corvette convertible so I bought it and I am still looking for a good deal on a Harley. It’s going to be a fun summer… NO I am not having a midlife crisis. I can’t see it being a crisis when I am just wanting to have fun… This summer I am going to be working on American and European links, so all my friends from there please help me out on what cheap vacations/flights are available from your home Country.
