I started off with a couple of buddies from Calgary in Playa Del Carmen Mexico. We stayed at the Rio hostel but they wanted to go to a hotel. I myself I like to stay at hostels for a couple of nights mostly if it is a city I have never been to. You learn so much of where to go and where not to go but the best thing is you find better deals than the hotels give you. We had a great Christmas (turkey) dinner at a restaurant in Playa. It was hard to find at first but we found a good dinner, never give up it's always there right in front of you. I ended up telling the guys I wanted to go to Panama for New Years. Now in Panama for New Years I met up with my friend John from Calgary who I went to see last February while I was there, New Years eve John and I went to old town they have a few bars on the street right next to a hostel, I said John this looks like a good place to hang out and it was one of the best places to watch the fireworks all around the city. While we were there a couple of guys joined our table from the Edmonton area Dwayne and Keith. I gave Dwayne my card and told him let's catch up later. So he called me next day with his new friends from the Toronto area, Jimmy and Derek. We all hung out together for about a week. I like touring people around even though Dwayne had a car. Gas is only 63 cents a liter, so I took them all on the new train (subway) in Panama city. It's only 35 cents to get around the whole city so four of us went golfing in a town called Coronado about an hour outside of Panama City. The town is mostly populated with Canadians and Americas. We all had a great time, the pictures above from left to right Jimmy, Pete, Derek, back right Keith and Dwayne.
My friend John from Calgary has been living in Coronado Panama for just over a year now and just loving it. John has friends from there now. I met Pedro a good guy from Panama he has lived in the States and Canada. He is a horse trainer and he trained horses in Toronto for Woodbine racetrack. Pedro took John and I to the racetrack in Panama city were his brother is the president of the racing association. Pedro's horse came in second, so that meant we could not get out picture taking in the winner's circle, but Pedro's brother did arrange us to get our picture taken with another horse, I picked that horse won anyways. Had to come back home to Calgary for a couple of weeks two reasons, one personal and the other was for my granddaughter Quincy coming into this great world of ours,. It's been great weather here too everyday above zero, back to Panama on Tuesday, love Panama..
